Bowie To Release 40th Anniversary Ziggy Stardust!

David Bowie - Ziggy Stardust

David Bowie will release a 40th Anniversary 're-mastered' edition of his 1972 album, ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars’ on June 4th 2012. The album was originally released on June 6th 1972 but wasn't actually commercially successful for Bowie as it only reached number 75 in the US album charts. The only 'single' from the album was 'Starman' although other album tracks, especially 'Suffragette City' are now played almost to exhaustion on todays so-called 'Classic Rock' radio stations.

The re-issued 'Ziggy Stardust' album will be released in various formats including an 'Audio DVD' which will feature 5.1 Surround mixes of selected tracks, including, 'Velvet Goldmine' and 'Moonage Daydream' which won't appear on the standard CD re-issue.

The 'standard' CD re-issue will only feature the original track listing in re-mastered form and to get the 'extras' fans will have to purchase a special 'Collectors' pack which will allegedly feature a vinyl version of the album with the original track listing along with a 26 track DVD.

The 2012 re-master will also be released in digital download only format.
