K. K. Downing - Judas Priest

Ex-Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing has unveiled plans to to open a multi-million pound 63 room luxury hotel on his 320 acre estate in Shropshire, England. The hotel development is believed to be an addition to the 18 hole Astbury Hall Golf Club that he built on his property in 2010.

Downing unveiled the plans on Monday 23rd January and alongside the hotel, the proposals include an indoor swimming pool, a liesure spa and a 'World Class' restuarant.

Downing told the Shropshire Star, "I'm speaking to various corporations about investment and I’m optimistic we can start pushing through with the plans for development this year. The next step is putting together all the costing of everything, which includes the golf, practice areas and purpose built clubhouse, as well as the hotel, leisure and spa facilities."

"I've spent most of my own personal fortune on this. It’s been hard work but also rewarding and enjoyable to see it grow and grow. I’m now keen to speed up the process."

After more than 40 years with the band, K.K. Downing announced his departure from Judas Priest during their Epitaph World Tour on April 20th 2011. He was quickly replaced with Richie Faulkner the guitarist from Lauren Harris's (daughter of Iron Maiden's Steve Harris) band. Downing stated that 'differences with the band and their management and a breakdown in their relationship' were responsible for the split.
