Geddy Lee - Steampunk World Appealed To RUSH!

Alex Lifeson & Geddy Lee - RUSH

With the release of the new RUSH album hopefully set for a Spring release, the PR machine continues to roll. Vocalist/bass player Geddy Lee has been extolling the virtues of the album's title track - Clockwork Angels.

Referring to the title track, Geddy told Classic Rock, "That song is a longer piece and I think if anything it’ll only get longer when we’re finished with it. Lee went on to discuss the elements that influenced the storyline and said that Clockwork Angels represents, "a different kind of future and the whole aesthetic of steampunk, which is so cool. When you look at the steampunk designs they all look Victorian yet fast-forwarded in some magical way to the future. The idea of building a story around that world appealed to us."

Although the recording of the album is supposedly completed Lee indicated that although the length of the title track hadn't yet hit double figures, they are, "Pushing all the songs as long as we can!"

In light of what were widely regarded as overpriced tickets for the recent Time Machine tour, some cynics also regarded the early release of the tracks 'Caravan' and 'BU2B' before the album was completed as just another way of selling the same items twice to eager fans. However Geddy dismisses this and says that, "We jumped the gun a bit and got too excited and couldn’t hold it back."
